About

Howdy I’m Nan! I’ve been in the hair industry for 9 years now. I started off as a generalist behind the chair. Since I started in the beauty industry I have had so many incredible opportunities to explore all my career has to offer. I’ve worked in runway shows, print and even film! I have been a head hair and makeup designer for a movie on Hulu (we need to do something if you’re interested) I moved out to central Oregon 3 years ago and really found my passion behind the chair. I feel so lucky that I was able to live out there and really figure out my style of hair. What I discovered while I was out there is that I really love doing hair for people who hate doing their hair. Creating styles the live with you and your lifestyle really make me excited to come to work everyday. I believe that everyone deserves to feel amazing, whether you style your hair or not. I believe in the true “low maintenance” look. I am a true low maintenance girly myself at the end of the day. The beauty industry was first introduced to me growing up as a competitive dancer, I loved styling the hair and makeup for competition days. That led to me styling my friends hair for school dances. I would be sitting behind my friends in class teaching myself how to do all of the braids I could find,I absolutely loved it. I knew then that I wanted to be in the industry in middle school when I stepped foot into a salon the first time. I went with my friend to get her hair cut into a short spiked pixie and I was done for, I knew this was what I wanted to do. The reason why I still love this industry so much is because of all of you. I cherish all of your heads truly, it means a lot to me that you trust me with you hair.I know how important hair is, it’s the one accessory you can’t take off. Nothing is better than when someone truly feels good about their hair. I’ve worked hard to create a safe space for all of my guests. It truly brings me so much joy getting to help humans feel their most confident. The community I’ve found in this industry is incredible. I love working at KinFolk Hair, getting to work with such talented stylists keeps me inspired. There’s something to be said about who you work with, it truly makes your career. I feel so lucky to be where I’m at, I learn new things everyday! I’ve been loving being back in Michigan close to the city. I’ve been really on the self discovery train since moving back. When I’m not behind the chair you can find me; outside in nature i love going on long discovery hikes, listening to nature and looking at all of the moss and mushrooms. Their tiny little works are so fascinating to me. You can calso find me at the rock gym, I’ve been climbing consistently for 6 months now and i love it. You can also ind me at home,I am very much a homebody, I love curling up with my 2 cats reading a good book or watching true crime documentaries. I am also a huge horror film fanatic, anything creepy and spooky is up my alley so any and all recommendations are welcome! I am a big foodie and have recently discovered my love of cooking. I’m always game to eat out so recommendations for that too are always welcome.
